www.ChatRoomsCenter.comSometimes when we watch a movie, a romantic comedy for instance, we often find ourselves falling in love with a quote from that movie. We just find ourselves murmuring the quote for the rest of the day. When someone sends us a lovely romantic quote through SMS, we save it, and sometimes, we forward it to other people. When we open a fortune cookie and reads a quote, we end up thinking about it all day. We memorize our favorite quotes by heart. We put quotes at the bottom of our emails as our signature. According to one website, 17,500 use the Internet to search for quotes everyday. People love quotes, especially romantic quotes. But why?
The most obvious reason is that quotes inspire people. We easily get motivated by love quotes to make ourselves believe that the one thing we hope for, like being loved back by someone we love, is still possible. Quotes inspire us to achieve something and enjoy what we already have.
But romantic quotes are more than that. Sometimes, quotes tell us things that are really obvious but we are unable to notice. And suddenly, our eyes just open and see what we haven't seen or what we refuse to see. For example, a quote that suggests that your true love has always been there but you just fail to see suddenly makes us think that maybe it is true. And then we begin looking for that someone.
Quotes also offer reinforcement when you think you have no one to lean on or when you stand alone. The very fact that it is a quote means that it had already happened to someone before. And it gives you a feeling of belongingness even when the problems you're having are the most absurd the world has ever seen.
And sometimes, quotes give us a feeling of certainty. Most of the time, we are unsure of our decisions and convictions, that we try to back up the good things that we do with an utterance by someone famous, recognized and revered. And because of that, we just desperately try to justify the not-so-good things we did, do and will do with the quotes we hear. If Angelina Jolie said so, it must be right.
